Baltic citizens rely on parcel deliveries more than ever

Parcel delivery has become an essential part of everyday life across the Baltics, as new data shows that nearly 9 in 10 citizens* in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania received a parcel over the past 12 months. The findings reflect the ongoing growth of e-commerce, personal deliveries, and second-hand trading in the region.

According to the study, 88% of Lithuanians, 87% of Latvians, and 83% of Estonians reported receiving at least one parcel last year. Delivery frequency is also on the rise, with close to one-third of respondents in each country receiving parcels multiple times per month. More than 40% of people said they had received a parcel as recently as the last week, highlighting how integral delivery services have become to daily life.

While receiving parcels is now a norm, sending activity is also increasing. In Lithuania, 35% of respondents said they had sent a parcel within the past week or two, followed by 28% in Latvia and 22% in Estonia. People are sending parcels for a variety of reasons — from returning online purchases and gifting to selling used items through second-hand platforms. In Lithuania, half of the parcel senders had sold a used item in the last year.

Cross-border parcel activity is also gaining momentum. Fourteen percent of Latvians and Lithuanians, and 9% of Estonians, reported sending parcels abroad within the past year. Though still less frequent than domestic sending, this trend reflects the increasing international connectivity of Baltic consumers.

Commenting on the findings Gusts Muzikants, CCO of Omniva Group, said: “The data clearly shows that parcel delivery has become a key part of everyday life in the Baltics. Whether people are buying online, sending gifts, or reselling used items, they now rely on logistics networks more than ever. This shift in habits is not only about convenience — it also reflects a broader digital lifestyle that continues to grow across our region.”

As e-commerce and digital communication continue to shape consumer behavior, the demand for fast, flexible, and efficient parcel services is expected to increase. For logistics providers and retailers, these insights underline the importance of investing in smarter delivery solutions and infrastructure to meet the expectations of modern Baltic consumers.
