Omniva expands the Picapac pilot project in Southern Estonia – Soinaste residents are next to join
The Picapac private parcel machine pilot project continues to expand in the Tartu area, with Soinaste residents next in line to join. Omniva is offering owners of private houses and terraced houses, as well as small businesses, free installation of a private parcel machine and a three-month free trial.
Picapac is attracting a growing number of users in the Tartu area. The pilot project is already underway in nearby Tõrvandi and Ülenurme, and Omniva is now extending the same opportunity to residents of Soinaste.
“When we expanded the pilot project to Tõrvandi and Ülenurme in Southern Estonia, we wanted to see how much interest there was in private parcel machines outside Tallinn and Harju County. We are now seeing a growing number of Picapac users in the Tartu area. This is why we are giving Soinaste residents the opportunity to try a private parcel machine at their home free of charge,” said Aleksei Kolesnikov, Product Manager for Picapac at Omniva.
Picapac allows customers to receive, send and return parcels without leaving home. Shipments can be delivered to the machine by Omniva as well as other delivery companies and food couriers. When sending or receiving parcels with Omniva, the standard parcel machine service price applies.
Picapac also brings other everyday services to the doorstep. Customers can use it to send laundry for washing or dry cleaning and to send items they no longer need to Uuskasutuskeskus (Reuse Centre) for reuse. In addition to parcels, letters and periodicals are delivered to the private parcel machine, where they are protected from the weather, and customers receive a notification when their mail arrives.
Participants in the pilot project can use Picapac free of charge for three months. Transportation and installation of the machine are also free of charge. At the end of the trial period, customers can either return the machine or continue using it for a monthly fee.
Through its pilot projects, Omniva aims to better understand which residential areas have the highest demand for private parcel machines and how people use Picapac in their daily lives. The pilot also helps Omniva assess how a denser private parcel machine network affects the efficiency of last-mile logistics.
Soinaste residents can apply to join the pilot project HERE. Omniva will contact applicants directly.
The Picapac pilot area is gradually expanding. People living outside the current pilot areas can join the waiting list. When selecting new areas, Omniva takes into account, among other factors, the level of interest from each area.
